Overview
In the context of organizing a summer camp, I developed a software solution designed to reduce cash usage for purchases made by children and teenagers at the snack bar. After four months of operation, the results showed that this system reduced transaction times (by eliminating the need to give change) and completely eliminated theft.
Each registered participant was issued a personalized card that could be loaded with funds to spend at the bar. Additionally, a feature was implemented allowing lost or stolen cards to be suspended, enabling participants to request a replacement card with their remaining balance transferred over.
The software also enabled the extraction of post-camp purchase statistics for the bar, including purchase frequency, peak sales hours, average spend per transaction, daily transactions per participant, average weekly expenditure, and more.
